Brevard Blue Ducks News Release

Glens Falls, NY– The Adirondack Wildcats, behind 34 points from veteran Jimmy "Snap" Hunter beat the Brevard Blue Ducks 112-84 in their home opener.

The Ducks were actually up 49-48 at half time, but the Wildcats used a 34-16 third quarter to pull ahead and coasted to victory.

"We're started out well defensively," remarked Ducks head coach, Robert Reid. "Then we just lost the intensity and slacked off in the second half."

There were some bright spots for Brevard. Newcomer Tobe Carberry led the team with 20 points, followed by returning forward Nat Burton with 18. New point guard Anthony Slater had 12 assists. Brett Nelson went 0-3 from the field in limited minutes.

"I know it was only the first game of the season and there are more to come, but I've got to be honest, this one hurts," said team owner, Mike Richman. We've got a big monkey on our backs from last season and I want that monkey gone as soon as possible. We are all about winning this year."

"Adjustments will be made," added Reid. And they'll have to be made soon as the two teams go at it again in Glens Falls on Saturday. From there, the Ducks travel to Brooklyn where they take on the Kings Monday night before returning to Brevard for their home opener against the Florence Flyers at the Clemente Center on Thursday the 22nd. DUCK NOTES: Ducks guard Teddy Dupay began his rehab after arthroscopic knee surgery last week. He's expected to return to the lineup in several weeks. The same goes for Ducks leading scorer, Terrence Shannon, who's nursing a broken foot sustained in a game last week in the NBDL.
