Brevard Blue Ducks News Release

Melbourne, FL - Brevard Blue Ducks rookie sensation Tony Bland (Syracuse/San Diego State) won the 2004 USBL Rookie of the Year Award. Bland, who Brevard got from Adirondack, led the Blue Ducks in scoring at 20.5 PPG (18.9 PPG overall) to go along with 5.7 APG and 5.5 RPG. He finished the season strong, tallying two triple-doubles in his last four games.

"He was incredible for us," remarked Duck owner, Mike Richman. He actually averaged a triple-double over the last week of the season (28PPG/10APP/10RPG). To say he finished strong would be an understatement."

Bland becomes the second Brevard Blue Duck in three years to garner a USBL season honor. Ducks guard Kwan Johnson won the league's Player of the Year Award while with Brevard in 2002.
