Brookings took an early lead Friday night - just two minutes into the game Chase Gamelin pounced on a Magician turnover. Minnesote tied the game moments later, but Connor Hutchins buried from Mikael Haakarainen. Peter Valent put the Blizzard up 3-1 only nineteen seconds later. In the second period the Blizzard received goals from Kane Durment and Max Rasberg. No goals in the third brought a Blizzard win and advanced Brookings into a tie for thirs place in the Central Division with the Aberdeen Wings Eric Hancock stopped 23 of 24 shots to improve his record to 3-2.
The Blizzard fell behind to Bismarck midway through the first period on Saturday night. Near the end of the second the Bobcats took a heavy 4-0 lead, while the Blizzard continued pumping shots in but failed to crack Hunter Shepard. Bismarck opened the third with a quicky goal. Brenden Payne and Gavin Mindt each scored in the third but Brookings was not able to come back as they fell 5-2.
The Blizzard are off until Friday, October 30th when they host the Aberdeen Wings at 7:30PM. The doors open at 6:30 for a Coors Lite Happy Hour.
