Brookings Blizzard News Release
Brookings, SD - The Brookings Blizzard of the National American Hockey League (NAHL) announce today that the team is making changes for the 2015-16 season. The Blizzard are pleased to announce the addition of three new staff hires.
Maggan Froseth will take on the role as the Director of Business and Game Operations. She will be heavily involved in all business aspects of the organization including sales, marketing, and game operations. Froseth had spent two seasons (2012-2014) interning with the Blizzard during her time in college at South Dakota State University where she majored in Sport, Park, and Recreation Management. After graduation in May of 2014, she took a job in St. Paul, Minnesota with the Minnesota Swarm as an Account Executive.
"This organization was my first taste of the sports industry and I am extremely excited to be able to contribute to the Blizzard full time. Based on both my time with and without the team, I believe that I have the right amount of experience and dedication to exceed expectations this coming season, " - Maggan Froseth.
Froseth takes great pride in working with fans, partners, and sponsors and is committed to providing high quality service to all.
"I am very excited to have Maggan on our staff. Â She brings passion and creativity to the business and operations side of our team and we have great expectations of what she will accomplish," - Chris Canavati, Blizzard Owner.
Steve "Yuro" Yurichuk will be the new Director of Player Development. Yurichuck will help to move players onto the next level of their career by creating skills sessions, which will be tailored specifically for their needs.
"We are excited to have Yuro join our staff in Brookings and Alexandria. Our players deserve the best possible training and skill development. Together with Head Coach Dan Daikawa, we feel strongly that this staff will provide our players with the best opportunity to develop as a hockey player and be prepared for the next level," - Chris Canavati, Blizzard owner.
"We are really excited to have a coach with Yuro's experience in Brookings. He will bring a wealth of knowledge to the development/skating side of our organization," - Dan Daikawa, Blizzard Head Coach
About Steve Yurichuk:
Known in the hockey world as "Yuro," the Toronto born coach is regarded as one of the best skating and skills development coaches in the game. Yurichuk has worked with some of the best players from around the world at all levels from the USHL, Major Junior, collegiate, and NHL. After playing junior and college hockey in both Canada and the US, then pro hockey in Germany, Yuro ended his playing days in 2002 and took on roles building and coaching various teams and players.
"Player development has been my focus and passion for the last 22 years. I have been able to travel the globe and teach some of the best players and learn from some of the best coaches. It's great to be back coaching in such a prestigious league as the NAHL/NA3HL and to work for such a great hockey organization. I feel I can be a valuable asset to the Blizzard organization both in Brookings and Alexandria by helping each and every player realize their potential." - Steve Yurochuk.
An Assistant Coach will be a new hire for the Brookings Blizzard as Kyle Grabowski, Assistant Coach in the 2014-15 season, has recently accepted the Head Coach position with the Austin Bruins.
"On behalf of the entire Blizzard Organization, we wish to congratulate Kyle on this opportunity. We take great pride in seeing members of our organization recognized for their abilities and selected for promotion. Whether it be a player, coach or business manager, our mission is to help our team members develop and move on to larger roles. We wish Kyle all the best. (Except when they are playing the Blizzard!)," - Chris Canavati, Blizzard Owner
The Blizzard Head Coach, Dan Daikawa, will be choosing Grabowski's replacement in the coming weeks.
