KENNESAW- The Atlanta Blaze played the Rochester Rattlers tonight at Capelli Sport Stadium at 7:30 PM. The Blaze took the lead and held it for all but a few minutes of play befure ultimately beating the Rattlers.
Adam Ghitelman started in goal for the Blaze. The Blaze came out to a cautious lead early with the first quarter ending 4-2. Randy Staats drew first blood for Atlanta, while All-Star Kevin Rice had a goal, and James Pannell nailed two goals .
The Blaze were outshot in the second quarter, with it ending 6-5. Staats had a goal and an assist in this quarter.
The game proceeded with few goals, with only 4 Blaze goals in this period, two by Chris Bocklet. The Blaze maintained their lead at 10-7.
The fourth quarter held the majority of the action of the game, with the Rattlers catching up and at one point leading the Blaze. Jeremy Noble scored three goals in a row to ensure the game went to overtime, where Randy Staats scored the winning goal to bring it to 14-13.
