Blaze Sign Horton and Hawryliw – 3 Back From AA Camps

Rolling Meadows, Illinois - The Chicago Blaze are pleased to announce the signings of defensemen Bill Horton and forward Nigel Hawryliw. Terms of their contracts are withheld. Horton, 22, arrives from the International Hockey Leagues Flint Generals training camp after playing in two preseason games. The 6'2", native of Utica, New York, was a surprise signing for the Blaze who expected him to start the season with Flint. Joining Horton in a Blaze uniform is AAHL veteran Nigel Hawryliw. The 26 year old Hawryliw, 5'11", 200, from Muskegon, Michigan saw AAHL action last season with Battle Creek and then Chi Town, helping the Shooters win the inaugural league championship.

In other news, the Blaze are pleased to welcome back defenseman Joe Pace and goaltender Jon Smarsh from the AA Quad City Mallards training camp and goaltender Adam Dekker from the Muskegon Lumberjacks Camp. The three players will join the Blaze for Tuesdays skate at West Meadows Arena in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. The Blaze are hosting 27 players (15 forwards, 8 defensemen and 4 goaltenders) for the 7 day camp. All sessions are open and free of charge to the public. Our fans can get their first look at this year's team, meet the players and coach and purchase season tickets at the arena box office.

Training camp week will end with a home and home exhibition series against the Madison Ice Muskies. On Friday October 16th the Blaze hit the road and travel north to Madison for a 6: 30pm game against the IceMuskies. Saturday October 17th sees the first game the Blaze play at West Meadows Arena this season as the Muskies come in for a rematch at 7pm.

Exciting Blaze regular season play gets underway the following Saturday, October 24th as we host the Detroit Hitmen at West Meadows.
