Blaze Sign Goalie for Upcoming Season
July 11, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bloomington Blaze News Release
The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, has signed their first goalie for the 2012-13 season.
Dan Dunn played for the Division I St. Cloud State Huskies for four campaigns. While there he was also named to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Third Team during his 2009-10 season.
Last season, Dunn played for the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees for his first transition from WCHA to the CHL along with the Evansville Icemen and Dayton Gems. During his time with the Dayton Gems, Dunn played under current Blaze coach Brian Gratz and maintained a remarkable 0.97 save percentage, racking up 291 saves in just ten games. Gratz, a former goalie, says Dunn is athletic. "Dan is a good, young goaltender that moves very well and has a big frame at 6'4"," said Gratz. "He competes hard every game and works tirelessly to be at his best both on and off the ice."
