Rolling Meadows, Illinois - The Chicago Blaze are pleased the 2009-2010 AAHL season gets underway and announce the opening of training camp on October 12, 2009. All activities are at West Meadows Arena in Rolling Meadows, Illinois starting off with the first team practice at 8am Monday. The camp concludes with an exhibition game at West Meadows Arena on Saturday October 17th at 7pm as the Blaze host the Madison IceMuskies. The Blaze would like to invite all our fans and sponsors to visit the rink this week, where they can meet the players and the coach. Owner Aaron Mattey says of this year's camp, "We are happy to finally get going after a summer of planning and hard work off the ice. We are welcoming 27 players from across the United States and Canada as they try to impress the coach and show us they have what it takes to make a pro roster."
The 15 forwards, 8 defensemen and 4 goaltenders who will hit the ice in hopes of securing a spot on the regular season roster are as follows:
Goaltenders - Danny Codd, Aaron Crompton, Adam Dekker, Jon Smarsh
Defence - Andrew Corvo, Devin Chaput, Mark Hammersmith, Kevin High, Arik Lebda, Mike Mannina, Joe Pace, Nick Vertucci
Forwards - James Brooks, Jay Clark, Jerry Cardinale, Pat Doyle, Justin Elmore, Tony Giacalone, Andy Haase, Phil Hoss, Pat Lee, Aaron Mattey, Chris Mattey, Justin Neis, Aaron Schwartz, Tim Spryszak, Kyle Thompson.
The schedule is as follows:
Monday October 12th
- 7 am - report to Arena and check in
- 8 - 10am practice
- 10:30 - off ice training and testing
Tuesday October 13th
- 8 - 10am practice
- 10:30am - off ice training and testing
Wednesday October 14th
- 8 - 10am practice
- 10:30 - off ice training and testing
Thursday October 15th
- 9am - team workout
- 10:15 am - team meeting and team building
- 11:45am - 1:45pm - practice
Friday October 16th
- 9:30 am - 10:15 am - Game day skate
- 6:30pm - Away exhibition game in Madison
Saturday October 17th
- 9:30 am - 10:15 am - Game day skate
- 7pm - Home exhibition game vs Madison
