
Blaze re-sign Clemens, Gesser

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze announce the re-signing of fullback-linebacker KEVIN CLEMENS (6-1, 275, Grand Valley State) and quarterback JASON GESSER (6-1, 210, Washington State) to a two-year contracts through 2008. As per team policy, terms were not disclosed.
"We are excited to bring back Kevin and Jason," said Blaze head coach/general manager DANNY WHITE. "We took advantage of the opportunity to keep two quality players who know our system. We continue to make strides to solidify the foundation as we look to build a championship team."
Clemens, who will be entering his ninth AFL season in 2007, finished as the Blaze leading rusher with 67 yards on 44 carries with 10 touchdowns. He also finished with 21.5 total tackles and tied for the team lead in sacks with 2.0.
Gesser, who will be entering his second AFL season in 2007, completed 89-of-145 passes for 1,092 yards, 23 touchdowns and seven interceptions in four starts.
Other Blaze recent signings include: WR/DB ORSHAWANTE BRYANT, QB JOE GERMAINE, OL/DL HANS OLSEN, WR/LB TOM PACE, WR/LB JUSTIN SKAGGS and K STEVE VIDETICH.
The Utah Blaze were winners of the 2006 Commissioner's Award, given to the Arena Football League's organization of the year, and the Best Support Staff Award. The Blaze led the AFL in attendance and qualified for the postseason in just their first season.
