Atlanta Blaze News Release

Kennesaw-Atlanta had high hopes and revenge on their minds as the game started off strongly in favor of Atlanta, with the score at 7-9 at the end of the half as the teams headed to the locker room. However, Boston went on a 7-1 run in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was closer but the damage had been done as the final score gave the Cannons a solid 21-12 victory.

Faceoffs and ground balls hurt the Blaze, and the discrepancy in shots on goal favored the Cannons as Atlanta's Adam Ghitelman saw 32 shots on goal, making 13 saves throughout the game. However, Ghitelman fought bravely, making more saves than Boston's goalkeeper, Tyler Fiorito, as Ghitelman led the team with 4 ground balls.

Brandon Mullins of the Cannons earned the game's MVP honor as he anchored Boston's defense and had five ground balls. Randy Staats was on fire for the Blaze with four points and Kevin Rice put up four points as well as scored his twenty-first goal for the Blaze organization.

The future looks bright for Atlanta's top two draft picks Myles Jones and Deemer Class as the pair suited up for their first taste of Major League Lacrosse action. The pair put up 2 goals each and Myles had an assist to his Duke and Blaze teammate, Class. The twosome found their place easily within the Blaze organization and will no doubt put up more points as the rookies get to know their teammates better.

The Blaze will return to the Fifth Third Bank Stadium next Saturday June 11th for their first matchup against the New York Lizards.
