July 17, 2017 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
Atlanta Blaze News Release
KENNESAW- After beating the New York Lizards in a July 13 game in Long Island, the Blaze face what will unequivocally be the most important game in Blaze history, a game that will launch them either easily into the playoffs or provide an uphill fightt.
The top 4 teams in the 9-man league go to playoffs, and with four teams - the Blaze included - tied at just under .500 with a 5-6 record, the last three games of the season will tell whether the Blaze make playoffs for the first time in history.
The push begins at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Saturday, July 22nd at 7pm against the Chesapeake Bayhawks in what will be the Blaze's Military Appreciation Night. The next game, also at 7pm, against the Rochester Rattlers will be Fan Appreciation Night, and a home rematch of the recent Blaze overtime victory. The Blaze then play the last-place Cannons in Boston.
The Blaze go into the end of the season with their strongest lineup of the entire season; Mark Matthews was recently named Warrior Offensive Player of the Week for his 4 goal and 2 assist performance against the Lizards, and Adam Ghitelman was named one of the top goalies of Week 12. The game will be the most important one in Blaze history, rivaling even the inaugural game.
The Blaze play their next home game, Military Appreciation Night, at 7pm on Saturday, July 22 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium
