Binghamton native hired as B-Sens' equipment manager

BINGHAMTON - Binghamton native Tom Severance has been hired as the Binghamton Senators' equipment manager the club announced today.

Severance spent the last four seasons as equipment manager of Binghamton's 2004-05 East Coast Hockey League affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. During his tenure with the Checkers he was chosen by peers as the ECHL's Equipment Manager of the Year for the 2002-03 season. He was also named the equipment manager of the ECHL All-Star Classic in 2004.

Prior to his stint in Charlotte, Severance was an assistant equipment manager for the New Jersey Devils (1995-96 season) and the New York Islanders (1996-97 & 1997-98 seasons) of the National Hockey League.

Severance grew up in Binghamton playing in the Southern Tier Hockey Association and graduated from Binghamton High School in 1988. He replaces another Binghamton native, Scott Allegrino, who was recently hired as the equipment manager of Binghamton's NHL affiliate, the Ottawa Senators.
