Reno Bighorns News Release

RENO, NEV. - The Reno Bighorns will participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life at Reno High School next Saturday, June 22. Team President Mike Reynolds has pledged to walk 60 miles at the event.

Relay for Life is a 24-hour event in which teams and individuals come together and raise money to fight cancer. Teams take turns walking around the track for the duration of the event. Reynolds' walk will be a fundraiser for the Reno Bighorns Relay team. He is asking for pledges of $0.10 per mile. If he makes his goal of 60 miles, every person that pledges will be donating $6 to the American Cancer Society.

"Last year, I walked 60 miles and know what a challenge it will be," said Reynolds, "but it will be worth it again if we help raise more money and awareness for the American Cancer Society."

To pledge support, fans are asked to call Allison Strekal at the Bighorns office at 775-853-8232 or email her at abeck@renobighorns.com. Fans can make a donation or join the Bighorns team online at renobighorns.com.

The Relay for Life will start at 1 p.m. on Saturday and end at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning. In addition to Reynolds' fundraiser, the Bighorns will also be holding a raffle at their camp site for season tickets, fan experience packages and autographed items.

"I am honored and pleased that the Reno Bighorns will once again participate in the 2013 Relay for Life which benefits the American Cancer Association," said Reno Bighorns owner, Herb Santos, Jr. "This event is our chance to become empowered to fight cancer. This is the time to stand up, get involved and help ensure that we don't lose spouses, children, parents and grandparents to this horrible disease. Please join me and the Reno Bighorns as we join forces to raise money to help find a cure. Help us put an end to this horrible disease."
