Big Weekend on the Road for Manchester
January 10, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Saint John Riptide News Release
Manchester, New Hampshire: The Manchester Millrats prepare to head out on Saturday morning to face their geographic nemesis, the defending ABA Champion Vermont Frost Heaves, at 4:05 pm in Burlington, Vermont. And then on Sunday they will attempt to beat the Quebec Kebs in Canada at 3:00 pm - a feat that has evaded them so far this season.
This weekend's road trip is critical for the Millrats, who are looking to establish dominance over regional rivals, and bounce back after dropping two difficult road games in Singapore against the Beijing Aoshen Olympians.
Joining the Millrats on the road trip will be two new additions: 5'10 guard Al Stewart and 6'8 forward Charles Mason. Stewart, a lightening fast guard who impressed many while with the ABA's Corning (NY) Bulldogs this season before his team folded, hails from Drake University and will be a tremendous compliment to Ismael Caro, Anthony Anderson, and Chris Burns in the backcourt. Mason is a 6'8 veteran with tremendous experience, athleticism, and range from nearby Boston. He was a final cut by the NBA's Denver Nuggets in the nineties, played several seasons in China, and was most recently playing in Romania.
"We just feel that the addition of Stewart and Mason will bring great chemistry and intelligence on the basketball court," explained Millrats Head Coach Larry Lessett, "we needed to get more stable and at the same time add speed and skill."
Saturday's game against Vermont will be broadcast LIVE and FREE on the web on www.vermontfrostheaves.com, www.manchestermillrats.com or by clicking here: http://event.playonsports.tv/frostheaves/?eventId=2917 via PlayOn! Sports webcast.
