Mississippi Surge head coach Jeff Bes spent Wednesday morning meeting with members of the Coast Chamber of Commerce while at breakfast with Biloxi Mayor A.J. Holloway.

Many of the business and community leaders congratulated Bes on being named SPHL Coach of the Year, and expressed their pleasure with the team's recent success in season ticket sales.

"It was good to hear from so many people that they genuinely want hockey here," Bes said. "We want to emphasize having the Surge here benefits their business and is great for the community in so many different ways."

One special guest who spoke with Bes was Brigadier General Andrew Mueller of Keesler Air Force Base. General Mueller has been assigned to Germany and he and his wife attended the breakfast.

In his remarks thanking the community, General Mueller mentioned that his daughter played in the Gulf Coast Youth Hockey program. He told Bes he appreciates everything the Surge does for the area, and how much his daughter enjoys playing hockey.

The love that General Mueller's daughter developed for hockey will continue in Europe. He, and his wife Keri, told Bes their daughter will play in an all-girls ice hockey league in the Netherlands.

Bes informed those chamber members who are not Surge season ticket holders, of the many benefits their business can realize through Surge season tickets.

Season tickets for the 2012-13 Surge season are available by calling the Surge at 228-287-PUCK (7825). More information is also available at www.mssurge.com.
