Benoit Doucet named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto - The Canadian Hockey League announced today that Benoit Doucet of the Victoriaville Tigres is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday January 14 after scoring seven goals and 11 points in three games.

Doucet started the week with two goals in a 5-4 loss to the Gatineau Olympiques on January 10. He scored two goals and three assists and was the first star in a 7-5 win over the Baie Comeau Drakkar on January 12 and scored a hat trick in a 7-2 win over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on January 14.

The 20-year-old native of Longueuil, Quebec is eighth in the QMJHL scoring race with 31 goals and 74 points in 45 games this season.

Sergei Kostitsyn of the London Knights was the OHL nominee after scoring three goals and 10 points in three games and Chris Stevens of the Medicine Hat Tigers was the WHL nominee after scoring two goals and six points in three games.
