Bells Announce Finalized Coaching Staff for 2022 Season

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Bells are excited to announce the 2022 coaching staff, three of whom will return from 2021.

Head Coach Adam Geaslen will return for his fourth season with the Bells, and his second as head coach. In his first season as head coach, Geaslen lead the 2021 Bellingham Bells to the WCL Divisional Playoffs. The Bells were also awarded the Jim Dietz Sportsmanship Award under his direction.

"We are thrilled to have Adam returning for another season," Bells general manager Stephanie Morrell said. "He did a tremendous job in his first year as head coach and showed commitment to developing student athletes. To have consistency in the head coach position is huge for our team and we are very glad to have Adam leading the charge again in 2022."

Geaslen returns two of his assistants from the 2021 season, David Higuera and Haydan Hastings. Higuera, an assistant coach at Cal Tech, works with Bells outfielders, while Hastings, an assistant coach at Edmonds College, is responsible for developing the team's catchers.

With the departure of Jim Clem, veteran pitching coach Carlos Arroyo will join Geaslen's staff as the team's pitching coach. Arroyo recently retired from an almost 40-year coaching career within the Philadelphia Phillies minor league system. During the course of his career, Arroyo worked at almost every level of the Phillies MILB system, including stints as Pitching Coordinator, Rehab Coordinator and Roving Pitching Coach.

Also joining the staff for the first time will be former Bell Cody Anderson, who will serve as Arroyo's assistant pitching coach. Anderson played collegiately as a left-handed pitcher for Bellevue Community College (2015-2016) and Washington State University (2017-2018). He pitched 32 innings for the Bells in 2015 and ended the season with a 2-0 record and an ERA of 3.38.

"We are very excited to be adding two fantastic new coaches to the staff," Morrell said. "Carlos' experience speaks for itself; he brings a great wealth of knowledge to our team. He is very passionate about player development, and I know our players will benefit greatly from having him here in Bellingham. It's also very exciting to be adding Cody to our team. He was a great Bell and is a motivated young coach who has a lot to offer our players."

The Bells coaching staff will return 11 players from 2021 for the 2022 campaign.
