Bellevue in, Bakersfield out for 2004

Indianapolis, IN. Joe Newman, ABA Co-Founder, today announced a change to the 2005 and 2005 expansion team rosters. According to Newman, "Bellevue, Washington will play in 2004 -and Bakersfield CA will play in 2005 instead of this season." He continued, "As we put together our six divisions to be announced later this week, balancing the divisions became extremely important to us. Bakersfield Co-owner David Higdon has generously offered to begin next season instead of this season and has allowed Bellevue businessman Michael Tuckman to begin play in November. Complicated yes, good for the ABA most certainly."

Tuckman added, "We have a completed venue lease with available dates already, plus we have a full coaching staff in place, over 100 season ticket holders and 4 corporate sponsors. The city is very excited. The ownership group, includes Rob Spitzer, a partner in the Seattle law firm of Garvey Schubet Barer; Peter Rettman, Managing Director of National Securities and me. We've been working for two years putting this together and we know that we'll have one of the best and most exciting operations in the ABA."

Tuckman continued, "Perhaps most exciting is that we are producing a limited-run reality TV show for Fox Sports Northwest called "MAKING THE TEAM." It will be a four-hour show chronicling the efforts of two dozen athletes trying to make the roster of a pro basketball team. On the final show, one player will be voted by the fans to receive a free agent contract to make the team in November 2004. We know we have a lot of work to do in a short time, but we're ready and motivated. And we'll be announcing a lot of things shortly too."
