ROCKFORD, IL - The Rock River Raptors announced today that Randy Bell has been named Offensive Player of the Year for the 2008 season in the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL).
When it came to getting the ball in the end-zone, nobody did it better for the Raptors than Bell. Bell's offensive skills showed in several phases of the game as he rushed for 548 yards and 24 touchdowns, had 234 yards receiving with 4 touchdowns, returned 26 kickoffs for 503 yards and 3 touchdowns, and returned one field goal attempt 33 yards for another score. All told, Bell handled the ball 153 times for 1,318 yards and 32 touchdowns.
"Randy is a huge offensive weapon for the Raptors, whether he's rushing the ball, catching it out of the backfield, or returning kickoffs, Randy is a threat to score every time he handles the ball", said Raptors GM Dave DeSanti.
Bell, who attended Carson Newman, was originally signed by the Cleveland Browns in the summer of 2003 and played for the Edmonton Eskimos (CFL) in 2004. Bell joined the Raptors for the 2006 season and continues to be a fan favorite in Rockford.
