Belfour, Lehtinen and Keane Highlight 5th Tornado Pros Vs. Prospects Game

FRISCO, TEXAS - (March 14, 2011) - The Texas Tornado hockey team announced the pros roster for the fifth Pros vs. Prospects charity classic game at the Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco on Sunday, March 20th at 5pm, which will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Collin County and the Boy Scouts Circle Ten Council.

The pros team roster is highlighted by former Dallas Stars greats Ed Belfour, Jere Lehtinen and Mike Keane, who will all be skating in the game that matches a group of former pro players against the current players of the Texas Tornado. Prior to the game, members of the Allen, Irving and McKinney police and fire departments will take on police officers and firefighters from Richardson and Dallas in the annual Guns & Hoses game. Tickets to the Tornado game will also allow entrance to the Guns & Hoses game beginning at 2:30pm (doors open at 2pm). Tickets for the event are available by calling the Texas Tornado office at 972-335-9800. During the game, there will be a silent auction for the custom made jerseys worn by the pros.

"This game is a great annual tradition for our team and fans," said Texas Tornado head coach and general manager Tony Curtale. "We are excited this season to have such former Dallas Stars greats as Ed Belfour, Jere Lehtinen, Mike Keane and many others skating against our players. It is a great night for everybody and done for a great cause this season as we partner with the Boys and Girls Club and the Boy Scouts."

The celebrity list of players doesn't stop with Belfour, Lehtinen and Keane. Former Dallas Stars players Greg Adams, Bob Bassen, Gerald Diduck, Bill Huard, Landon Wilson and Brent Severyn will also be playing in the game for the pros team. Other members of the pros team include former Texas Tornado players Jason Bloomingburg and Tom Train, former member of the Edmonton Oilers Steve Dykstra, and backstopping the pros team in goal will be former 1st round NHL draft pick Dan Blackburn. Behind the bench this season helping coach the pros team will be Red Kane, who played for the Detroit Red Wings during the 1943-44 season.

The Texas Tornado are also pleased to announce that also skating for the pros team will be Brett Bowland, who will be representing the Allen Fire Department and Justin Webb, who will be representing the Plano Police Department. Rounding out the pros roster will be David Hunt, who skates for the Warriors of the Senior Stars Hockey League. David won the 'shift of a lifetime promotion' and will be skating a shift with the pros during the game.

The Texas Tornado, proud members of the 27-team North American Hockey League, are back in 2010-11 for another season of exciting family entertainment at the state-of-the-art Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco, which now offers more seating, more amenities and more great action featuring the players that are the future of hockey. Since their inception in 1999, the Texas Tornado has set the standard for excellence for hockey for players ages 21 and under in the United States. Besides their three straight National Championships from 2004-2006, the Tornado has won seven NAHL Regular Season Division titles and had seven straight 40+ win seasons from 1999-2007. Since 1999, the Tornado have developed and moved on over 120 players in ten years onto NHL, NCAA and professional teams.
