Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
Corpus Christi, Texas -- The Killer Bees notched their sixth consecutive win in convincing fashion, flying 5-1 over Corpus Christi Friday at American Bank Center. Rio Grande Valley goaltender Evan Lindsay was 19 seconds from a shutout until the Rayz avoided being blanked on a late goal by Derrick McIver. Tough guy Ryan Shmyr scored a pair of goals for the Bees and Bill Newson had a goal and two assists, while Daymen Bencharski gets credited with the game winner for his goal midway through the first. Trevor Weisgerber's assist on Bencharski's goal extended his assist streak to six games, setting a new franchise record. Both he and Bencharksi have points in six straight games.
The Bees will get back to action on December 27 vs. Laredo for a 7:30 game at Dodge Arena. Fans will enjoy $1 beers, and will have the chance to sign up to shoot and win a new home at the 2006 Obra Homes CHL All Star Game on January 18.
