ATLANTA (December 3, 2002) - U.S. Soccer today announced the finalists for Best Soccer Stadium in the U.S. and among them was the Atlanta Beat's home, Morris Brown College's Herndon Stadium. Throughout the week, US Soccer will be announcing its Best of US Soccer finalists and fans will be able to vote online for their favorites.

Herndon Stadium makes an appearance on the Best Soccer Stadium list after only one year of use as a soccer facility. The 15,000-seat stadium played home to the Atlanta Beat, in its second season in the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA). Herndon Stadium garnered rave reviews from fans and media alike, for its intimate and exciting soccer atmosphere, with seats in close proximity to the field, for its close proximity to downtown Atlanta and spectacular view of the Atlanta skyline and for the easy access in and out of the stadium.

The stadium played host to 10 of the Beat's regular season home games in 2002 and was also used for the WUSA's second championship game, Founders Cup II in which more than 15,000 fans were in attendance.

Other finalists for Best Soccer Stadium include:

* Rose Bowl (Pasadena, Ca.) -- home to the MLS's L.A. Galaxy and host of recent Women's World Cup qualifying matches.

* Gillette Stadium (Foxboro, Mass.) -- home of the MLS's New England Revolution and host of the 2002 MLS Cup.

* SAFECO Field (Seattle, Wa.) -- site of successful MNT friendly and 2002 Women's Gold Cup
