Beat Prep for magicJack Rematch on Saturday

May 27, 2011 - Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) - Atlanta Beat News Release

KENNESAW, GA. (May 26, 2011) - The Atlanta Beat (1-5-1) of Women's Professional Soccer face magicJack for the second time this season at FAU Soccer Stadium on Saturday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fl.

Earlier this week, the Beat traveled to Yurcak Field in a rematch with Sky Blue FC. After a hard fought 90 minutes, the Beat fell to a three goal loss. "Although the recent results have not been great," said Beat head coach James Galanis in his midweek report, "we are investing in the future by learning valuable lessons that will make us better long term... Proud of my team, and we will keep fighting."

The Beat first met magicJack just three weeks ago in the Beat's fifth match of the season. Ella Masar, a magicJack forward, scored in the 24th minute before teammate Christen Press scored in the 64th. Despite creating several dangerous chances, the visiting Beat were unable to convert.

"We knew that coming into the season we would have a young team with a vision to build an exciting team of the future," said the coach.

With his mindset to improve the team, Galanis shook up the roster 10 days ago as the club experienced some player movement. The Beat released Kristina Larsen and Vendula Strnadova last week before acquiring midfielder Kelly Parker and defender Julianne Sitch via trade with the Western New York Flash this week.

On Wednesday, May 25, the Atlanta Beat gained Parker and Sitch in exchange for a pair of early draft picks. Both Sitch and Parker are expected to make their first Beat appearances against magicJack this weekend.
