ATLANTA (February 26, 2003) - The Atlanta Beat today announced the signing of Maribel Dominguez, the 2002 W-League Most Valuable Player and Women's Mexican National Team captain. Dominguez, a 5'4'' forward from Mexico City, led the W-League in 2002 in points (46) and assists (12) and finished second in goals scored (17).

Dominguez played for the W-League's Kansas City Mystics in 2002, where she led the team to a Midwest Division title. She was named to the W-League Team of the Week three times and was the W-League Player of the Week twice. Dominguez is expected to join the Beat for preseason training in early March, but her arrival is contingent upon the approval of an official work visa.

The Beat's other off-season international signing, German Conny Pohlers, is expected to arrive in early March as well. While the final 2003 roster will not be established until late March, the duo of Pohlers and Dominguez gives the Beat potential for added speed and scoring ability up front.

Each WUSA squad is allowed four international roster spots on the 20-player squad. Currently the Beat has four international players under contract, which include, Charmaine Hooper (Canada), Homare Sawa (Japan), Conny Pohlers (Germany) and Maribel Dominguez (Mexico).

The Beat opens up at home on April 5, 2003, versus the New York Power. Full Season Tickets as well as a special Five-Game Beat Pack, that features tickets to the most popular games in 2003, are currently available at prices starting at just $99 for all 11 games and $45 for the Five Pack. Individual tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at all TicketMaster outlets or by calling the TicketMaster number in your area.
