Newark Bears News Release
Newark, NJ- Newark Bears Professional Baseball Team hosted their second annual Mardi Gras- Arts and Crafts program on Saturday, January 14th at the Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium.
Every year, roughly one month prior to the Newark Bears annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball, they host their arts and crafts program where children are invited to learn and decorate items which are use to decorate the stadium for the ball.
The Kids Arts Program was created to offer children within the Newark community an opportunity to participate in such an event and actually watch how their work becomes a reality by showing their creative skills. Some of the children were from foster care organizations, Wu-Kah-ki (nonprofit Theatre organization) and Technology High School. The children learned how to make Mardi Gras masks, mini floats - made out of shoe boxes, and decorated umbrellas.
Supplies were provided by the Newark Bears owners, Ms. Dronet and Dr Spiel. Some of the Newark Bears and Aggressive Promotions staff also contributed in donating supplies and volunteered during this event. "Observing how the children were interacting with our staff was an incredible and memorable experience. The Newark Bears are eager to see more children participate during this fun programs so we encourage any youth organization to keep posted for all upcoming opportunities.", shares Sarai Gonzales, who is the Newark Bears' Intern Coordinator and Outreach Director.
The 2012 Annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium, where one will witness the tented concourse magically transform into a Mardi Gras wonderland.
"Events and opportunities such as our annual Mardi Gras Arts Program truly make all struggles worthwhile." Ms Dronet explains. "My heart lights up when I am sitting on the floor or at a table decorating items with each child." "It truly makes you slow down to appreciate all opportunities we have by being a huge part of the Newark Bears.", says Ms. Dronet.
