
Bears add two to front office

NEWARK, N.J. -- The Newark Bears today announced that Kathleen Cassino and Jermaine Sanders have joined the ticket office with Cassino being named Director of Group Sales and Sanders becoming a Ticket Sales Executive. Both assumed their new positions in recent days.
"Kathleen and Jermaine are two hard-working, energetic people who will add a lot to our ticketing operation," Bears Vice President/General Manager Chris Bryan said. "We're getting close to Opening Weekend, I am excited that we are fully staffed and ready to go."
A 1997 graduate of Pace, Cassino comes to the Bears after spending the past two years as Director of Marketing for HOST Communications. Her time with HOST was spent working directly with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in Edison, N.J. While with the MAAC, she was Associate Director for all conference telecasts on MSG, helped to fulfill and implement sponsorship packages and coordinated internet initiatives. Prior to her stint with the HOST and the MAAC, the 27-year old Brooklyn native worked in Orlando, Fla. for Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex and the Orlando Rays Baseball Club. With Disney, she gained sales and public relations experience while she served as the main media contact for the Rays. In that capacity, she served as the team's primary liaison to local, national and electronic print media covering the Southern League. She also partnered with the Rays' marketing department on development of collateral pieces, including programs, scorecards, team posters and print advertising. Her experience in sports also includes time with the Buffalo Bandits indoor lacrosse team, the Buffalo Blizzard indoor soccer team and time spent at the University at Buffalo's Promotions Department. Currently residing in South River, Cassino received a master's in Sport Administration from Canisius College in 2000.
A Newark native, Sanders returns home after spending time as a Telemarketing Ticket Sales Representative with the New Jersey Nets. He also has worked with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority as a Security and Safety Personnel Officer, working a number of events at both Continental Airlines Arena and Giants Stadium. The 30-year Sanders has also worked with Arcadia Marketing and Coca Cola USA. He is a 1996 graduate of Monmouth University with a degree in business management and marketing.
The Newark Bears compete in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. The Atlantic League consists of eight teams in five different states and enters its sixth season of competition on May 1.
