The Beacons started the week at home on Friday November 8th against the Elmira Jackals. The Jackals' Randy Murphy got on the board first with a power play goal at 2:46 into the first period. Three minutes later Jason Firth tied the game at one when he received a pass from Simon Poirier right in front of Jackals' goaltender Marco Edmond. The pace of the game continued in the manner of the Jackals' scoring and then the Beacons answering back couple minutes later. Both teams came out during the third ready to play a physical game. The game was tied going into the last couple minutes of play when Ryan Esselmont received a two-minute minor penalty for hooking at 18:18 in the third period. The Beacons dominated the power play and at 18:42 Peter Bournazakis got the puck past Emond putting Port Huron ahead by one. The Beacons skated the rest of the period a man up due to a Jackals major penalty at 19:36 by David Lassard for attempt to spear. Beacons hold on to the 4 – 3 win.

The Beacons hosted the Rockford IceHogs for their third match up of the season Saturday, November 9th at McMorran Place Arena. The game started out similar to the earlier match up against Rockford on November 3rd when Casey Harris scored at 5:49 into the first to put the Beacons on top. The game turned into a memory of the first match-up against these two teams back in October when Rockford dominated the game and gave the Beacons' their first loss. The IceHogs dominated this game as well and scored five ananswered goals skating away with the 5 – 1 win over the Beacons.

The Beacons ended the week still in first place with a record of 10-4-1. Port Huron travels to Muskegon Friday, November 15th to play the Muskegon Fury. The 2001 – 2002 Colonial Cup Champions had a slow start this season, but have regained the play similar to last season.

Player Update – Brent Gretzky still remains on 21 day injured reserve. Defensemen Charlie Elezi was traded to Kalamazoo as the further consideration in the Kory Cooper trade arranged at the beginning of the season.

Beacons On The Road – Catch all the road action of the Beacons with Dennis Stuckey on WHLS 1450 or 1590 AM. This week the Beacons play Friday, November 15th against the Muskegon Fury and Saturday, November 16th against the Fort Wayne Komets. Turn those dials and listen to your Port Huron Beacons defend first place in the Eastern Conference.

Sierra Mist Family Super Sundays – This Sunday is the Sierra Mist Sunday for November. The ticket package is $45.00 and includes: 4 Bridge level seats, 4 hot dogs, 4 16 oz. Pepsi, 2 selected items of merchandise, and 1 official Beacons program. Also, after this Sundays game is a free post game skate with the players. Come out and skate with the United Hockey League leaders. Individuals must provide their own skates.
