Port Huron, MI â The Port Huron Beacons of the United Hockey League (UHL) announce the signing of goalie Stu Dunn and defenseman Ken Fels.
Dunn returns to the Beacons after stepping in for the injured Bujar Amidovski near the end of last season. This 29 year-old native of Halifax, NS played three games for Port Huron with a 1-0-1 record. He faced 71 shots during that time and had a save percentage of 0.947. This season the Beacons will dominate with the combination of Dunn and Cooper in net.
"Stu is a capable goalie of doing great things in a short period of time," states Head Coach Bruce Ramsey. "When he is on top of his game he as good as any in this league."
Ken Fels, a 6-0, 220 pound defenseman brings the Beacons another level of toughness. This makes Fels fourth professional season, first with the UHL. He played last season with the St. Pete/ Winston-Salem Parrots of the ACHL (Atlantic Coast Hockey League). While with the Parrots he earned five goals, seven assists, and 187 penalty minutes. Fels was ranked third in major penalties for the league and second in minutes among the Parrots.
"Ken hits everything in sight," states Ramsey. "He is not afraid to drop the gloves, more importantly he looks forward to dropping them."
