Bazzana and Miller Earn WCL's Moss Adams Weekly Honors
June 7, 2021 - West Coast League (WCL) News Release
The West Coast League's Moss Adams Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, as announced by league commissioner Rob Neyer, are Oregon State infielder Travis Bazzana of the Corvallis Knights and Purdue Fort Wayne pitcher Justin Miller of the Port Angeles Lefties for the week of May 31-June 6.
This summer's first position player pick was Travis Bazzana, who went 9-for-14 on the road in the opening series of the season against the Yakima Valley Pippins. Bazzana had a 5-for-6 game at the plate in Saturday's 11-3 win for Corvallis.
The Australia native is an incoming freshman for Oregon State. The future Beaver out of Turramurra High School in Sydney played for Team Australia in the U18 World Baseball Cup in 2019.
The inaugural pitching selection for 2021 was Justin Miller of Port Angeles. The senior-to-be picked up the win against the Bellingham Bells on Saturday after allowing just one hit with seven strikeouts in six scoreless innings.
This spring, he pitched in 13 games as a junior for Purdue Fort Wayne. The southpaw went 5-7 and led the Mastodons in strikeouts with 64.
