BayHawks Launch Project: Fit Virtual Clinics

June 16, 2020 - NBA G League (G League)
Erie BayHawks News Release

ERIE, PA - The Erie BayHawks have partnered with the Erie County Department of Health, LECOM Health and UPMC Health Plan to bring virtual clinics to Erie's youth. Project: Fit is a year-long community program to promote healthy living through various basketball clinics, health activities and exciting fan experiences.

The nature of Project: Fit's virtual clinics is to educate and inform youth about ways to keep a healthy mind and body during summer vacation and while being limited from social activities. Local health professionals speak on various topics ranging from the advantages of staying away from tobacco and vaping, to food portion control, stretching and exercising.  Additionally, a BayHawks player or coach will demonstrate basketball skills that can be practiced at home.  A series of three virtual clinics will be posted on the team's website over the coming weeks.

"The virtual clinics allow us and our local health and wellness partners to continue to connect with Erie's youth during a time when we would typically be visiting them at local community organizations or summer camps," said BayHawks team president Matt Bresee.  "This is a fun way we can reach them in their homes and remind them to stay active and healthy."

The first clinic is now on the Erie BayHawks YouTube channel today, June 15.
