Erie, Pennsylvania - The Erie BayHawks fell to the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Saturday night, splitting the two game series. Donald Sloan led the way for the Skyforce in his return to Erie.
Erie (17-13) got off to a slow start and only managed 19 first quarter points. The BayHawks were able to chip away at the Sioux Falls (18-12) lead and cut the deficit to four points at halftime. Sloan tallied 16 first half points to go along with seven assists for Sioux Falls. Erie's two all-stars, Henry Sims and D.J. Kennedy scored 12 points apiece to pace the BayHawks.
The BayHawks took the lead midway through the third quarter on a Nick Covington three pointer. Sioux Falls battled back and garnered a seven point advantage heading into the final twelve minutes. Erie closed the gap to four points midway through the final frame but Sioux Falls used an 11-3 run to close out the BayHawks by a final score of 103-88.
Sims led all Erie scorers with 25 points on the night. Kennedy finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and Cory Higgins chipped in with 12 points. Sloan finished with 22 points, 10 assists and six rebounds to lead Sioux Falls. Demetris Nichols (20), Damian Saunders (11), Dexter Pittman (11) and Mike Davis also contributed double digit scoring outputs.
The BayHawks return to action on Monday night for "Buck Night" against the Bakersfield Jam. Monday's game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network at 7 PM. The Skyforce head home to host the Iowa Energy on Tuesday night.
