Mobile BayBears News Release
JACKSONVILLE, FL- The BayBears didn't have a hit from the fourth inning on in Friday night's 6-1 loss to the Jacksonville Suns. Justin Orenduff (4-1) pitched six innings and only allowed one earned run in his second win against Mobile this season. Jacksonville's bullpen held the BayBears scoreless in the final three innings.
Mobile's lone run came on a Ronnie Merrill RBI triple in the first inning. Luke Steidlmayer (0-2) took the loss in his second BayBears start, pitching six innings, and allowing four earned runs, all on a Joel Guzman grand slam. Saturday night is the debut of Padres 2005 first round pick Cesar Carrillo. Like three other members of the BayBears starting rotation, Carrillo started the year in Single-A Lake Elsinore. "I think people will see that these pitchers who started the year in the California League are very strong," said pitcher Jared Wells.
