MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, announced Monday the initial roster for the Farewell Season.
The roster includes the following players:

Six players on the BayBears initial roster are Top 30 prospects in the Angels organization, according to MLB Pipeline: OF Brandon Marsh (3), IF Jahmai Jones (4), LHP Patrick Sandoval (12), RHP Jesus Castillo (23), C Jack Kruger (24), RHP Jeremy Beasley (25).

Twenty-one players spent time with the BayBears last season. OF Brendon Sanger played in 93 games, more than any returning player. LHP Adrian Almeida was second on the 2017 pitching staff with 33 relief appearances, and RHP Jose Rodriguez made a team-high 23 starts.
Twenty-five players have prior experience at the Double-A level. RHP Zack Kelly, RHP Michael Santos, and OF Brandon Marsh have an opportunity to make their Double-A debuts.
RHP Joe Gatto, IF Jahmai Jones, and OF Brandon Marsh were all second-round draft picks by the Angels. Gatto was selected 53rd overall in 2014, Jones was drafted 70th in 2015, and Marsh was picked 60th in 2016.
Twenty-six players appeared with the Angels in Major League Spring Training games this year. LHP Patrick Sandoval was the Angels starting pitcher in last Tuesday's exhibition game at Dodger Stadium.
OF Brandon Marsh is the youngest member of the initial roster (21 years, 3 months). C Roberto Pena (26 years, 9 months) is the oldest player. The average age on the team is 24 years old.
RHP Matt Ball is the tallest player at 6 feet 5 inches. IF Erick Salcedo is the shortest player at 5 feet 10 inches.
The majority of the roster hails from the United States (19), including C Roberto Pena from Puerto Rico. Four players are from Venezuela, three are from the Dominican Republic, C Julian Leon is from Mexico, and IF Roberto Baldoquin is from Cuba. Of the American players, more were born in California (seven) than any other state.
Former BayBears infielder David Newhan will serve as the team's manager. This is his first managerial position, following two years as a minor league infield coordinator for the Angels and two years as an assistant hitting coach for the Detroit Tigers. The Southern California native had an eight-year Major League career with five different teams, and he won a Southern League championship with Mobile in 1998.
The BayBears begin the 2019 season at Hank Aaron Stadium Thursday at 6:35 p.m. against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. RHP Jeremy Beasley is scheduled to be the Opening Night starter for Mobile. The BayBears host 70 home dates through Labor Day, September 2.
