
Bay FC Launches Countdown to Home Opener in Advance of Inaugural Home Match

San Francisco - Bay FC, the Bay Area's new women's professional soccer franchise in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), announced the start of the Countdown to Home Opener, in which the club's players, coaches, Football Founding Four, and staff will actively engage the Bay Area community every day leading up to their home opener on Saturday, March 30 against the Houston Dash.
Beginning tomorrow, to drum up excitement for the first ever home match in club history, Bay FC will be encouraging fans to follow along via social (@wearebayfc) with the Bay Ball, presented by Sutter Health - a six-foot inflatable soccer ball which will be kicking its way across the Bay Area each day leading up to Saturday's home opener. Members of the Bay FC organization will also be making s TV appearances, gifting the prized Bay FC letterman jackets to local elected officials, and stopping by local shops and businesses to sign autographs and give away free items.
A sample of additional events for the Countdown to Home Opener include:
Team Visit to San Francisco City Hall - On Tuesday, March 26 from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. PT, Bay FC players, Head Coach Albertin Montoya, General Manager Lucy Rushton, Football Operations staff, and CEO Brady Stewart will meet Mayor London Breed and present her with a Bay FC Letterman Jacket. Following the presentation, Bay FC and Mayor Breed will cheer on youth from Bayview United and America Scores as they play soccer on the fields located at Civic Center Plaza directly across from City Hall. This event is open to the public.
Bridge Brigade Golden Gate Takeover - Bay FC Supporters Group Bridge Brigade will walk a span of the Golden Gate Bridge on Wednesday, March 27 with the Bay Ball interacting with fellow walkers starting from San Francisco heading towards Marin.
Bay Ball Visits Sutter's CPMC Van Ness Campus - Bay FC Founding Partner Sutter Health doctors and patients will have the opportunity to kick around the Bay Ball at its Sutter California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) Van Ness Campus on Wednesday, March 27.
Bay FC Co-Owners and USWNT Legends Wake Up at Santana Row - Bay FC Co-founders and U.S. Women's National Team Legends Brandi Chastain, Leslie Osborne and Aly Wagner, will be taking over Santana Row early Friday morning from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. PT to meet fans and sign autographs.
Bay FC will host additional events throughout the week including a joint press conference with City of San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan (timing and location will be shared at a later date), however, a majority of the events taking place leading up to Opening Night will not be pre-publicized to ensure members of the Bay Area community will be surprised by visits from Bay FC staff while going about their everyday lives. Bay FC will host its inaugural home match against the Houston Dash this Saturday, March 30 at PayPal Park in San Jose. There are a limited amount of tickets still available for Bay FC's inaugural season.
