NPF National Pro Fastpitch

Battle of the Bats-week three

June 25, 2008 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) News Release

WILSON/DEMARINI and WORTH tied in week 3 of the NPF Battle of the Bats competition with five homeruns each, but WILSON still has a strong hold on first place with a total of 21 homeruns overall to WORTH'S 13 homeruns. MIZUNO had two homeruns and COMBAT had one for an overall total of seven and five respectively.

The top competitor is Kate Robinson from the Akron Racers, swinging on behalf of WILSON/DEMARINI. Robinson added three more homeruns to her score for a running total of nine. KJ Kelley from the New England Riptide hit one homerun on behalf WILSON/DEMARINI. Kelley was a designated substitute for Lyndsey Angus. The Angus team is tied with Kristen Butler (and week 2 sub Brittany Barnes) with a running total of six homeruns. Butler is swinging on behalf of WORTH.

With several teams having BYE weeks (or postponed games), the competition could still go either way for both competitors and manufacturers. Sara Larquier, from the Glory, is currently in third place as a participant on behalf of WORTH with a total of four homeruns, but she has only posted scores for two weeks of competition. The Bandits Samantha Findlay, swinging on behalf of WILSON/DEMARINI and Jaime Clark, swinging on behalf of MIZUNO, have only one week of competition posted and both are tied with the Racers/MIZUNO team of Veronica Wootson (and subs India Chiles and Jessica Toocheck) for fourth place with a total of three homeruns. As the season progresses, these numbers should balance out with the goal of having 10 scores to post for all competitors (teams).

Honorable mention...Chelsea Spencer from the Philadelphia Force (2 homeruns on behalf of Mizuno)

Stay tuned as the Battle of the Bats continues as it truly looks like a battle for the $1,000 first-place prize!
