Battle of the Bats update
June 19, 2008 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) News Release
WILSON/DEMARINI continued to dominate the NPF Battle of the Bats competition in week two with a total of 6 homeruns and a running total of 16. DeMarini hitters included Lindsay Gardner of the Rockford Thunder with 1 homerun, Kate Robinson from the Akron Racers with 2 homeruns and New England Riptide's Lyndsey Angus with 3. WORTH followed with three homeruns, and MIZUNO and COMBAT each had one. Both the FORCE and BANDITS had BYE weekends for the competition.
The individual competition is led by Kate Robinson from the Akron Racers who has hit a total of 6 homeruns using a Wilson/DeMarini bat. Angus has a total of 5 homeruns using a Wilson/DeMarini bat. She is tied for second place with the team of Kristen Butler/Brittany Barnes from the Racers who are swinging on behalf of WORTH. Barnes is a designated substitute for Butler (up to two allowed).
Week three of the competition will be hosted by the Rockford Thunder, Akron Racers, Washington Glory and New England Riptide. As a reminder, ten scores from each team will be recorded. Scores against international teams will be dropped, if necessary to maintain an even number of competitions, in which case a BYE will be recoreded for the respective week. International team scores, if used, only apply for manufacturers, not individual players.
