Battle For IBL's Continental Division Heats Up This Weekend In Albany

The Albany Legends have come to contract terms with Kyle Cuffe, St John's University '04 and Jermaine Tate, University of Cinncinati, '00.

Kyle Cuffe (6'8", 250 lbs, F, St Johns '04) joins the Legends, most recently after an All Star Team assignment in Italy in 2009. The 28 year old Cuffe has played in the USBL, ABA and PBL ('09 Buffalo Stampede) in USA leagues and in the Czech Republic '05 and Venezuela '08. In Venezuela, he averaged 16.3 ppg, 8.5 rpg and 2.1 bpg. While with the Buffalo Stampede '09 season, he averaged 9.8 ppg and 8.3 rpg in 6 games.

Jermain Tate (6'9", 240 lbs, F/C Cinn '00), a former teammate of Kenny Satterfield's at the University of Cinncinati, is the veteran center who promises to bring experience and leadership to the Legend's center position. The Rochester Razorshark (PBL, '10) averaged 6.3 ppg and 3.4 rpg in 18 games for the 2010 PBL champion runner up and has played for the Ashville Altitude (NBDL) in all or part of two seasons.

The IBL's Continental Division battle for first place heats up this weekend at the Armory! The action starts this Friday, June 4 against the Edmonton Energy at 7:30 pm. The first place 8-1 Legends with take on the second place 7-2 Edmonton Energy (Alberta, Canada).

Possibly the biggest test for the Legend's this season brings the 7-2 Edmonton Energy to the Armory. The Energy features the #2 IBL leader in assists, William Funn (6'3" G, Portland State), second only to the current league leader and Albany Legend, Kenny Satterfield. The talented team is rounded out by Guard Benson Callier (Western Kentucky, among league leaders in rebounds and points), Center Lee Scruggs (Georgetown), small forward Stephen Sir (Northern Arizona. #5 in league leading points)

Games are Friday Night 7:30 pm, Sunday afternoon at 5 pm and June 7, Monday at 7pm.
