Battery to Compete in Dragon Boat Charleston

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery will complete its final practice Tuesday evening in preparation for this Saturday's Dragon Boat Festival at Brittlebank Park, downtown Charleston. Over the past two weeks the Battery has been fine-tuning its race starts, stroke-timing and power segments with assistance from Dragon Boat Charleston members Sterling Hannah, Grandee Ray, Patty Byrne, Artie Kurtz & Boo Collins.

The Battery is looking to go one better than 2011 when it secured a second-place finish to the James island based team, the Vikings.

The 5th Annual Charleston Dragon Boat Festival is set for this Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Brittlebank Park, downtown Charleston. Proceeds raised by festival paddlers support the health and wellness programs of Dragon Boat Charleston. Dragon Boat Charleston have been paddling hard since 2003 with the mission of promoting physical and mental wellness among cancer survivors and their community.

Kick for a Cure - Saturday, May 12

The Charleston Battery is once again teaming up with Dragon Boat Charleston and the Lowcountry Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure© on Saturday, May 12 for a Kick for a Cure night as the Battery takes on the Rochester Rhinos.

The Charleston Battery players will be wearing special custom Pink UMBRO jerseys during the match that will be auctioned off immediately after the game with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the charities.

Battery Pink Ticket includes one East Box Ticket and a Kick for the Cure koozie for $11. $3 from each Battery Pink Ticket will be donated directly to the Lowcountry Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure© and Dragon Boat Charleston.

Charleston Battery vs Antigua Barracuda - Friday, May 4

The Battery's next game is this Friday night versus Antigua Barracuda at Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island; gates open at 6 PM with kick off set for 7:30 PM (1340 AM). The match is presented by the McAlister Development Company and the Blackbaud non-profit of the game is The Journey House.
