
Battery players complete beep-test

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery team performed the beep-test this morning as they continue their preparations for the start of the 2007 Carolina Challenge Cup next Saturday at Blackbaud Stadium. Returning midfielder Luke Vercollone led the field scoring highest on the anaerobic fitness test, closely followed by veteran forward Ian Fuller.
All the players took part in the fitness test, and their progress was monitored closely by Charleston Battery head coach Mike Anhaeuser and Charleston Battery head trainer Laren Siefken (Trident Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation). Pre-season training continues tomorrow with two sessions scheduled, the first at 8:30 AM and then a second at 3:30 PM. All Battery training sessions are open to the public and take place at the Charleston Battery Practice Facility on Daniel Island.
2007 Jersey to be unveiled Thursday
The Charleston Battery will unveil its 2007 jersey Thursday lunchtime at Saturn of North Charleston. The Battery has a new equipment supplier for the 2007 season who have created a new custom designed jersey for the team. Coach Mike Anhaeuser and his team will attend the lunchtime event starting at 12:30 PM. 2007 Carolina Challenge Cup
The Charleston Battery will host the fourth annual Carolina Challenge Cup March 24 - 31 at Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island. This year's pre-season features the 2006 MLS Cup Champions the Houston Dynamo, MLS's New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC plus the USL First Division Charleston Battery. Tickets are on sale now priced at $15 - $25; discounts are available for series tickets (includes all 6 games) and for 2007 Charleston Battery season ticket holders.
