Charleston Battery News Release
Myrtle Beach, SC. The Charleston Battery defeated Coastal Carolina University by a score of two goals to nil on Tuesday evening in a pre-season scrimmage. Jose Cuevas and Taylor Mueller supplied the goals as the Battery played its final road pre-season match.
After a scoreless first half Charleston finally broke the deadlock midway through the second period. Midfielder Nicki Paterson picked out Jose Cuevas with an accurate pass from a free-kick. Cuevas controlled the ball and then finished neatly past the Coastal goalkeeper to tally his seventh pre-season goal.
Minutes later the Battery doubled its advantage after Mueller made a strong overlapping run down the left side. Mueller collected the ball and tucked his shot away to put the game beyond the reach of Coastal Carolina.
The Charleston Battery concludes its pre-season schedule on Saturday at Blackbaud Stadium with a 2:30 PM match versus the Carolina RailHawks; there is no charge for admission.
