Battalion Sweep 3 Game Series vs Whalers

Published on February 8, 2015 under Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) News Release

The 3rd game in 3 nights between the Battalion and the Whalers, this season's New England rivalry, and this one was for bragging rights as well as 3 points, as through 14 games between the two, each team had 7 wins a piece.

For the 3rd evening in a row, the Whalers led first, as Ilya Solarev finished off a nice pass in front to beat Louie George. However the Battalion dominated the rest of the 1st, as Rob Morton scored to tie the game late. In the 2nd it would only get worse, as the Whalers could not beat George, and Tyler Predergast made it 2-1. In the 3rd, the lead was upped to 3-1 off a goal by Mike McCurtain less than 2 minutes into the 3rd. The highlight of the game was when Ryan Patsch took an interference penalty with 10:02 to go. And with plenty of frustration, smacked the glass with his stick upon entering the penalty box. Keep in mind this glass is designed to absorb the impact from 100+ MPH shots, however the pane in question shattered into a pile of glass shards that caused a 20 minute delay. The Whalers could not find an answer to Patsch's rally call, and Dolman would add an empty netter to seal the deal, 4-1.

For the Whalers, Ilya Solarev had the lone goal, assisted by Brett Liscomb and Ryan Patsch, and Kevin Hoy stopped 37 of 40 shots for the loss. For Berkshire, Mike Dolman had a goal and 2 assists, Tyler Prendergast, Robert Morton, and Mike McCurtain added goals, Tom Tracy added assists and Louie George stopped 48 of 49 shots for the win. Berkshire next plays on Friday February 13th in Dayton, meanwhile the Whalers next play at home vs Watertown the same evening. 875 fans made it out to the Sunday afternoon contest.
