Bass assigned to Tulsa
March 24, 2006 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY, March 24 - The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets announced today that they have assigned rookie forward Brandon Bass to the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League.
"Brandon is a very talented player and has improved greatly throughout the year in practice," said Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower. "Assigning him to the D-League will allow him to get the game experience he needs to grow as a professional while we monitor that development."
In all, 28 players have been assigned to D-League affiliates on 38 occasions by 19 NBA teams during the 2005-06 season. Eight are currently active in the D-League.
Bass will play with the 66ers through April 5. He will continue to be included on the Hornets' roster and will remain on the team's Inactive List until he returns. The Tulsa 66ers, coached by Joey Meyer, are affiliated with Chicago, Indiana and Milwaukee as well as the Hornets. The 66ers have seven games left on their 2005-06 regular season schedule.
"I'm proud of how hard Brandon has worked all year long," said Hornets Head Coach Byron Scott. "He just needs to get some time on the floor and this is the best opportunity for him to do so."
Bass has appeared in 19 games with the Hornets, averaging 1.6 points and 1.7 rebounds in 7.4 minutes of action. Bass scored a career-high six points in 16 minutes at Atlanta on Nov. 18, while he grabbed a career-high six rebounds in 21 minutes at Seattle on Nov. 26.
