Barracudas Tryout A Success

December 19, 2007 - Intense Football League (Intense)
CenTex Barracudas News Release

Belton. Tx: The Barracudas held their first player tryout this past Saturday at the Bell County Expo Center, where they saw the likes of more than 50 hopefuls from all over the Central Texas area, including Austin and even Dallas. Players of every size and talent got their taste of the pros, with extensive agility, speed, and position drills.

The Barracudas were very excited to see that this group of hopefuls, is the best group they have seen in any tryout during the teams three year history. "I was very impressed with the number of players who showed up, and equally impressed with the amount of talent that I saw on Saturday!" said Coach Duliban. "It's going to be hard to decide who we want to bring to camp. Coach Contreras, Coach Cash and I will be making our decision sometime this week."

Showing up to the tryouts were several Ft. Hood Army soldiers, looking for their opportunity to be called a Professional Football Player. Kevin Kees a 6'6", 255 pound fireman trying out for Tight End was one of only a few lineman showing off their skills. Lawrence Waller of Virginia has been in the Army for two years, and had dreams of playing football at West Point. He was one of the ten players at Defensive Back who lined up against several very talented receivers. "I had no idea what to expect, because this was my first tryout, but I gave everything I had out there on Saturday!" said Waller.

Also at the tryouts on Saturday, a name that stands out for Belton natives, and University of Texas fans is former Belton High School player Ramonce Taylor. Talking about the tryouts, Taylor said "I'm still passionate about playing football, and I felt like this was a good workout. I was able to run some routes, and see what I am still capable of doing." Taylor currently resides in the CenTex area, making the opportunity with the Barracudas a great fit!

The Barracudas are looking to have another tryout sometime in February, and should have the location and date posted to the teams website in the near future. The team will begin training camp in early March, and will be looking to bring in 40 of the best players from around the nation.
