CenTex Barracudas News Release
Belton. Tx: Today, the Barracudas announced the signing of three returning players on the defensive side of the ball, that will be the first to make the 2008 training camp roster. The announcement was made at the La Quinta Inn and Suites in Belton, with food provided by Schlotzsky's Deli. After finding the coach that will lead the team in 2008, the Barracudas are continuing in the success they have had during this off-season, by beginning the process of finding some of the very best athletes to show off their skill on the field:
Tim Cook- DL 6'4" 300 Lbs - Cook is entering his third season with the Barracudas. The two-time IFL All-Star, recorded 5 sacks for a loss of 19 yards during the 2007 season ranking among the top ten in the IFL for sacks recorded. He is very strong and very quick for his size, and will be a threat to offenses in the upcoming season.
Tywuan Watkins - LB 6'2" 226 Lbs Texas State University - Making his professional debut with the Barracudas in 2007, he was ranked as one of the top three tacklers on the team, averaging almost four tackles per game, while only playing half of the season. He is very exciting to watch, because he is so aggressive and will no doubt be at the top of his game during 2008.
Chris Tyler- DL/LB 6'2" 265 Lbs Oklahoma State University - After an outstanding college career, Chris was invited to the Oakland Raiders training camp in 2002. He played with the Waco Lumberjacks in 2003. After spending 3 years in Iraq, Chris made quite an impact with the Barracudas receiving the "Athlete of the Year Award" in 2007. He now runs Iron Solutions in Killeen, and is very excited about re-joining the team in '08.
"As I have gotten the chance to get to know these returning players, I feel good about the integrity, and commitment these players have to be positive role models for young kids in the community. The Barracudas will be represented by the Best athletes both on and off the field! Also, it is so important to bring back the players that you know can contribute to the team with their leadership, talent, and experience." Stated Head Coach Chris Duliban.
