Barnett Selected PIFL Offensive Player of the Year

NASHVILLE, TN (July 18, 2014) - Voted upon by opposing coaches as well as league officials, the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) is proud to announce Nashville Venom WR Phillip Barnett as the 2014 Offensive Player of the Year.

In their inaugural season the 2014 Champion Nashville Venom reigned supreme combining to land a league-high nine members on the All-PIFL 1st and 2nd Team. Leading the league in scoring (172), Barnett led the Venom offensive arsenal by setting the bar for all receivers in touchdowns (28) catching multiple grabs in ten of his twelve regular-season games including three times catching four TD's in a single-game. En route to Nashville's two playoff wins, he also hauled in six receptions for 115 yards making three trips to the end-zone.

Catching passes from four different quarterbacks, Phillip and company finished with the top passing offense (260 yards/game) with Barnett averaging 13.3 yards per catch second only in the PIFL to teammate Jordan Jolly. Meanwhile, Barnett (1047) and Jolly (1107) are just the second receiving duo in league history to both cross the century mark in yards duplicating the feat set by 2012 duo of Maurice Dupree and London Crawford.

Previous Offensive Player of the Year winners includes Columbus WR Maurice Dupree (2012) and Alabama WR Mico McSwain (2013).
