Published on January 24, 2003 under Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release

Known as the Adirondack Lumberjacks from 1995 through 2002 while it operated in Glens Falls, N.Y., the Bangor franchise announced Friday it will keep the Lumberjacks nickname and unveiled a new logo.

The Lumberjacks also re-signed field manager Kash Beauchamp. He guided the 2002 team to a 52-38 record and advanced to the Northern League East championship.

The Lumberjacks also finalized a stadium deal for the 2003 season with the University of Maine to use Mahaney Diamond in Orono as its home field.

Mahaney Diamond will get a facelift courtesy of the Bangor team. It plans to replace the chain-link fence behind home plate with a new net and install a top-of-the-line sound system. The club will add 360 temporary box seats on the first and third base lines, increasing capacity to 2,960.

The Jacks will begin their 92-game 2003 season on the road in Allentown on May 22. The home opener will be Friday, May 30, at 7 p.m. versus New Jersey. A new team web site, bangorlumberjacks.com, will be online in a week. For tickets, call (207) 947-1900.
