Bandits Ink Gilray to One-Year Deal

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Buffalo Bandits today announced the team has signed transition player Matt Gilray to a one-year deal, pending league approval.
Gilray (6'3", 215 lbs., 5/11/1995) played in all of Buffalo's 18 regular-season games his rookie year, recording five points (3+2) and scoring one game-winning goal. His 69 loose balls ranked seventh among NLL rookies last season, and he ranked seventh on the Bandits in caused turnovers with nine. Gilray also played in all four of the Bandits' playoff games, tying for third in rookie playoff scoring (0+2) and tying for the lead among NLL rookies in loose balls recovered (15). He was selected by the Bandits in the first round (3rd overall) of the 2018 NLL Entry Draft.
Prior to turning pro, Gilray played four years of collegiate lacrosse at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. A two-time captain, Gilray finished his college career recording 10 points (5+5) in 53 games with the Bison. He earned Second-Team All-Patriot League honors three times (2016, 2017, 2018) and ranks eighth in school history in career ground balls (149). The Oshawa, Ontario native has also played lacrosse on an international level, winning a silver medal with the Team Canada at the 2018 FIL Men's Lacrosse World Championship in Netanya, Israel.
