Buffalo Bandits News Release

TORONTO - The National Lacrosse League today announced that Buffalo Bandits general manager Steve Dietrich has been named the National Lacrosse League's General Manager of the Year, edging out finalists John Arlotta of the Georgia Swarm and Rich Lisk of the New England Black Wolves.

Dietrich earned the honor after having previously been named a finalist following the 2015 season. Under his direction, the Bandits won a franchise record 13 games in 2016 en route to a 13-5 record and finished atop the East Division for the first time since 2009. The team reached its first Champion's Cup Final since 2008 and led the league with 251 goals, while allowing just 214. The plus-37 goal differential was second only to the Saskatchewan Rush.

Dietrich has held his current post for four seasons. Prior to being named the Bandits' GM, Dietrich was behind the bench for the Toronto Rock as an assistant coach. He was also inducted into the NLL Hall of Fame in 2012 after an 18-season career that included stops in Baltimore, Detroit, Rochester, Buffalo, Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto. In 2006, as a member of the Bandits, he became the first goaltender to win the league's MVP award.
