Baltimore Falls 48-41 to Atlantic City in First Road Game

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - The Baltimore Brigade (2-2) were defeated, 48-41, by the Atlantic City Blackjacks (2-2) on Saturday night at the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in their first road game of the season. Baltimore added 22 points to the scoreboard during the fourth quarter, ending the game with a touchdown pass to wide receiver Joe Hills and a two-point conversion by wide receiver Brandon Collins with zero seconds remaining on the clock.
With a little over eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, defensive back Nias Martin intercepted a pass and returned it 26 yards for a touchdown, which left Baltimore trailing by one point, 33-32. Martin finished the game with two interceptions, and three solo tackles. The Blackjacks answered with two touchdowns of their own in the fourth, resulting in the Brigade falling to the Blackjacks in the first-ever matchup in franchise history.
Quarterback Shane Boyd surpassed the 5,000 career passing yards milestone, finishing with 22 passes for 236 yards and four touchdowns. For the second consecutive week, Baltimore picked up two sacks. Defensive linemen Justin Lawrence and Royce LaFrance hauled in sacks against Blackjacks quarterback Randy Hippeard in the first half. Linebacker Joe Goosby led the defensive with seven total tackles, six solo. Defensive backs Josh Victorian and Joe Powell both tallied six solo tackles as well. Wide receiver Milton Williams III passed the 1,000 career receiving yards milestone.
Baltimore had a slow start, allowing the Blackjacks to outscore them 13-0 in the first quarter. Both teams traded interceptions, with Martin snatching his first interception of the season and Blackjacks defensive back Kiante Northington grabbing two within the first quarter. Fullback Rory Nixon pushed through for a one-yard touchdown, adding the first points to the board for Baltimore in the second quarter. Hills then put up his first touchdown on the night, which continues his AFL record for the most consecutive games with a receiving touchdown to 96. The Brigade trailed 20-13 going into the half.
Baltimore failed to add points to the board until a 12-yard touchdown pass from Boyd to Collins with 1:50 left in the third. Collins led the team with 10 receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns. This is the second consecutive week Collins has scored two touchdowns.
