B-Sens Best Crunch, 5-2, to Make It 8 Straight

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators not only improved their season record against the Syracuse Crunch to 2-0-1-0 tonight with a 5-2 victory, but they also extended their recent winning streak to eight straight games. A feat that has not been accomplished by the team since February of 2011.

B-Sens forward Stephane Da Costa opened the game's scoring at 10:23 of the first period with his first goal of the season assisted by Shane Prince. The Crunch evened the score at 15:06 when Tyler Johnson netted a shorthanded goal with help from Ondrej Palat. The score was 1-1 heading into the first intermission.

At 3:55 of the second frame, Da Costa tallied his second goal of the night, this time assisted by Cole Schneider. Jakob Silfverberg followed suit for the B-Sens at 8:44 with assists from Pat Cannone and Mark Borowiecki before Danick Cauthier, assisted by Matt Taormina, closed Syracuse's gap to one at 18:19.

The score remained 3-2 until 11:27 of the third as Patrick Wiercioch beat Syracuse goaltender Dustin Tokarski. Prince and Da Costa were credited with the assists. The game's scoring would close at 12:04 on Da Costa's third goal of the night assisted by Prince and Andre Benoit. Da Costa would conclude the evening with a hat trick and an assist, amassing four points.

Ben Bishop earned the win in goal for the B-Sens, stopping 21 of the 23 shots he faced. Tokarski made 33 saves on 38 Binghamton shots and came away with the loss for the Crunch.

The B-Sens will pick up action again next weekend as they host a two-game homestand. The Portland Pirates will visit on Friday, December 7 at 7:05 p.m. followed by a matchup against the Norfolk Admirals on Saturday, December 8 at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $19 for side and $18 for end seats.
